Ransom provides expertise with respect to managing releases of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from liquids such as dielectric and heat exchange fluids to the environment, as well as potential radiological concerns associated with coal combustion residuals (CCR).

With more than 30 years of successful consulting to the electrical utility industry, Ransom has gained significant expertise in dealing with PCB-related issues. Our TSCA service team is a preferred provider of PCB consulting services to a major New England/New York electrical utility company, as well as the preferred consultant to an international Midwestern developer that has specific focus on redeveloping former energy sites. This developer looks to Ransom for the characterization, reporting and remediation of PCB releases to both indoor and outdoor environments.

Our reputation and long-standing working relationships with many federal and state regulators ensure the development of compliant solutions based on the current regulatory structure. We have worked closely with U.S EPA Region 1, 2 and 3 to develop self-implementing, risk-based and performance-based disposal plans to manage PCB-contaminated sites. We also have experience with federal and state regulators to close fly ash disposal impoundments and address radiological impacts associated with CCR.
