Emerging Contaminants

Emerging contaminants, also referred to as Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs), are substances of potential toxicity newly identified by environmental regulators. They can pose serious challenges when discovered as part of any site due diligence. These emerging contaminants can refer to many different chemicals including pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PPCPs), cleaning products, industrial chemicals, and agriculture products.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) appear from a variety of sources including water and stain resistant applications and fire training/response foams. Ransom’s environmental team is skilled at identifying and remediating PFAS in surface water, groundwater and surface sediment.

Our team assesses the volatility, solubility and toxicity of the identified emerging contaminant and will develop short/long term monitoring and remediation strategies to keep your project on track.
