What you will be doing at Ransom:

The Level III Professional Engineer will work independently on civil engineering components of multidisciplinary projects as part of a team which may include geotechnical engineers, architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, surveyors, ecologists, and other professionals. Projects are generally centered around the land development field, such as site planning and subdivisions. More particularly, these projects may involve:

  • Hydrologic evaluations, site grading, roadway grading, ADA compliance, as well as the design of stormwater management systems, sanitary sewer conveyance systems (gravity and pressure), potable water systems, lighting, soil erosion and sediment control, landscaping, septic systems and other requirements for a complete site plan or subdivision package.
  • Prepare construction specifications.
  • Participate in client meetings and direct contact with clients.
  • Preparation of permit applications for local, state, and federal permits.
  • Attend and present projects at meetings including Planning and Zoning Boards and meetings with local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
  • Assist in the development of scopes of work and project estimates as needed.
  • Engineering cost estimates.
  • Review of contractor cut sheets.
  • Provide oversight or periodic supervision of construction projects and technical support for clients.

What you bring to the Ransom team:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in civil engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey with a willingness to obtain licenses in other states of practice.
  • 5+ years of experience as a professional engineer.
  • Experience with stormwater management design.
  • Proficient with site grading, roadway grading, ADA compliance, design of gravity storm drain systems, design of sanitary conveyance systems (gravity and pressure), and municipal water systems.
  • Proficient with the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ordinances.
  • Working knowledge in using AutoCAD Civil 3d, HydroCAD or Hydrology Studio Suite, and other civil design related software.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, Power Point).
